Crief Lodges are set in a spacious, attractive site within the North York Moors National Park with spectacular views out to the Vales of York and Pickering.
The nine Scandinavian pine holiday lodges in our grounds are run by the community as a business. However, people have found the tranquil location and proximity to the monastery helpful for making retreats, and you may wish to explore that possibility until the new retreat facilities are built.
Designed for privacy, the lodges blend into the natural landscape. There is easy access to hundreds of acres of land managed by the Forestry Commission with many walks and trails suitable for all ages and where dogs may be walked.
Crief Lodges provide an ideal base for exploring the rich heritage of ancient monastic sites in the area – Byland Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey are close by – as well as many places of cultural interest and, of course, of natural beauty. The National Park Visitor Centre at Sutton Bank is ten minutes drive away.
All have been recently re-roofed and insulated to a high standard so are cool in summer and cosy in winter.

Most of the lodges are dog-friendly, however, York, Byland and Rosedale are kept as dog-free lodges.
